Dana Whiting Law, PLLC ("Dana Whiting Law," "the firm," "we," "us") respects the privacy of everyone who contacts us. This policy explains what we collect when you use our website, call one of our phone numbers, or send us a message, and what we do with it.

This site does not create an attorney-client relationship

Using this website, submitting a form, or sending us information does not make you a client of Dana Whiting Law and does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is formed only when we and you sign a written engagement agreement.

Do not send us confidential information through this website until we have agreed in writing to represent you. Information you send before that point may not be protected by the attorney-client privilege.

Information you give us

When you fill out a form, call, text, or email us, we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address or ZIP code
  • The reason you are contacting us and anything else you choose to write in a message
  • Appointment and scheduling details

We ask only for what we need to respond to you. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, account numbers, or financial account details through this website, and you should not send them to us through it.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our service providers may record:

  • Your IP address and general location, such as city and state
  • Your browser and device type
  • The pages you view, how long you stay, and the links you click
  • The website, search, or advertisement that sent you to us
  • Cookies and similar identifiers

We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand which pages and advertisements bring people to the firm. These services set cookies and may receive information about your visit. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We also use the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram advertising. Meta may receive information about your visit through it.

Calls to the firm

Telephone calls to Dana Whiting Law may be monitored and recorded for quality assurance and training.

Many of the phone numbers shown on our website and in our advertising are tracking numbers. They ring to our offices and they tell us which advertisement, page, or listing produced your call. Our call service provider records the number you called from, the number you dialed, the date, time and length of the call, and in most cases an audio recording of the call itself.

We use call recordings to train our staff, to check the quality of the service we give callers, and to confirm details of what was discussed. We do not sell recordings and we do not release them to anyone outside the firm and its service providers except as required by law.

Before your call connects you will hear an announcement telling you the call may be recorded. If you prefer not to be recorded, tell the person who answers and we will make sure you are not. You may also write to us at the address below instead of calling.

Text messages

If you text one of our numbers or give us your mobile number and ask us to text you, we may send you messages about your matter, appointments, documents, and billing. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, and HELP for assistance. We do not sell your phone number and we do not use it for third-party marketing.

How we use your information

We use what we collect to:

  • Answer your question and decide whether we can help you
  • Run a conflicts check before taking on a matter
  • Provide legal services to our clients and administer those matters
  • Send appointment confirmations, documents, invoices and firm communications
  • Understand which marketing brings people to the firm, and spend accordingly
  • Keep our website secure and working
  • Meet our professional, legal and regulatory obligations

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with companies that run parts of our practice for us, under contracts that require them to protect it and to use it only for the work we give them. These include our practice management and client communication platform, our telephone and call tracking provider, our website host, our email provider, and our analytics and advertising providers.

We also share information when we are required to by law, court order or the rules governing lawyers, when it is necessary to protect the rights or safety of the firm or others, or when you ask us to.

How long we keep it

We keep client files for the period required by our professional obligations and applicable law. Information from people who contact us but do not become clients is kept for a reasonable period so that we can run conflicts checks and respond if you contact us again. Call recordings and marketing analytics are kept for a limited period and then deleted in the ordinary course.

Your choices

You can:

  • Ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it
  • Ask us to delete information that we are not required to keep
  • Stop text messages by replying STOP
  • Unsubscribe from firm emails using the link in any message
  • Turn off cookies in your browser and opt out of Google Analytics

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information sent to us over the internet is protected in transit.

Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on this page.
